Hi Kim
Just wanted to fill you in on Gus's first week here in Penticton. So far he's doing great - very well behaved for how young he is. After he got settled last week he started sleeping straight through the night, and so far has been quite good about going to the bathroom outside - every once in a while he'll catch us off guard but for the most part he lets us know and sits at the door.
His teeth must be moving quite quickly because he chews non stop. When he arrived we had two soft chew toys for him, but it quickly became apparent he was going to need something more, so now he has a fleet of toys to chomp on to his hearts content. He has lost a tooth; I'm not sure where it happened but I noticed that one of his little front teeth had gone missing. It doesn't seem to bother him, so I'm not concerned, just surprising as I had read they don't start losing their teeth for another month or two. He is an absolutely gorgeous dog, everyone that meets him is amazed at just how handsome he is!
He's meet lots of people so far, we take him down the street to the baseball diamond and he always bumps into people walking and likes to stop and socialize for a few before heading back on his way. We've been sure to avoid other dogs until he gets up on his shots, but there are lots of dogs in our neighborhood and he's met a couple and doesn't seem to be bothered. He tends to be nervous of new things at first but very quickly gets over it with some positive reinforcement.
Other than that he's just happy being a puppy. We're trying to set boundaries and rules right off the bat, and over the week he's starting to pick them up. I'm sure he'll turn out to be a very well behaved dog. Also, he's starting to display his hunting background! When he spots this blue ball he has across the lawn he hunkers down and slowly creeps up on it, before going full out and jumping all over it. He's still ALL legs and has a tendancy to get a little tripped up!
Well, I will keep you posted, but Gus has made a fantastic transition into our house and we look forward to watching him go from a rowdy little pup to a great member of the family. Thanks again for letting this little guy into our lives, we couldn't be happier!
Cheers,
John & Natasha

Hi Kim
Here are a couple of pictures that we have taken over the past few days.
Triton is doing fantastic and is even doing fairly well in the crate at night.
We had to buy him a sweater because his first day and a half here was so cold out he would just go outside and shake and wouldn't go to the bathroom.
He learnt to sit his first day here and comes to us and sits when he wants to try to earn a treat. He is learning fairly quick that we have to go outside to go to the bathroom but still having a couple of accidents every now and then. He is a ball of energy and has already brought so much joy to our lives.
Thanks you so much for our new little gentlemen,
We will be sure to continue sending you updates

Hi John
Just over 4 years ago, I got a puppy from you. It was one of the best things that I did!! Every day we marvel and comment on what a wonderful dog Sophie is.
I just wanted to let you know that she is doing well and have attached a few pictures of her in some of our favorite spots that we spend time. When we get another dog, it will most certainly be a vizsla. Though I wouldn't recommend them for everyone, she fits perfectly in our lives and there is not a day that goes by that I don't feel lucky to have her around!!
Thanks

Hi Kim,
Thanks so much for this email. I have been meaning to contact you and John to give you an update on “Rudy” and let you know what a wonderful pup he is...while I can still call him a pup. He is an amazing dog. I love him so much and equally important, so do my kids. We are working with a great trainer and she constantly comments on how smart he is. Is he perfect? No...which really means he is a great pup...who really likes to chew. Actually I think I have been amazingly lucky to have integrated him into my house with minimum collateral damage.
When I picked him up on that very cold day in January, John reinforced the need for the crate and I have been following his wise advice...with good results.
It was also wonderful to meet his brother on Sunday, which I am guessing came from the previous litter of Ellie May and Rowdy. By all means please pass all my contact information (below) on to Harry and Heather. I didn’t get her name at the time, even though we talked for over an hour. While driving home I was thinking...I should have got her contact info!
I ran into someone else in High Park in Toronto recently who spotted Rudy from quite a distance and thought he was an Onpoint pup. He was right...his father was Rowdy but I don’t know the mother’s name.
You are Vizsla legends in your own time! I am very happy that we connected.
Regards,
Bryan

Hi Kim & John,
I apologize for not emailing the both of you sooner, but we have been extremely busy and sleep deprived as you can imagine.
You were spot on about her screaming bloody murder the first night. In fact, she would howl, cry, bark and I think roo for the first 2-3 nights. It's been a little over a week now though, and we had our first silent night just this past Friday! She will quietly whine early in the morning now, but it's just to let us know that she's awake and needs to go outside to do her business.
As for housetraining, We're seeing an improvement everyday. It's amazing how fast these little guys learn. On day 5 she learned to bark once at the door to let me know she needs to go out for #2. I also taught her to sit in 4 days. She also knows to sit and wait outside the door until she is invited to come inside. I figure it will make things easier in the winter when I'll need to wipe her slushy and muddy paws.
She's also growing very quickly. We noticed last night that what were once such enormous paws for such a tiny puppy are now the same size but proportioned to her growing body. I can't wait until her next growth spurt so I can see her running around with gangly legs again.
Attached are some pictures we have taken of her since day 1. And 1 from when we met Kian this past weekend, another Vizsla from Onpoint. Thank you again for our Mischa.
