Subject: Gibson (rescue Vizsla)
Hello Kim,
I just thought I would email an update on Gibson... he is the Vizsla I adopted from the local SPCA last April, in Timmins. I think the last time I spoke to you was last May when I was asking about a visit (we ended up not having time to drive to your place, and you were busy with some sort of dog trials).
He is healthy, and happy and probably spoiled more than I care to admit.
but he LOVES all other dogs, and gets along so well with everyone. He gets a daily one hour minimum (most of the time, double that) run off leash in the woods. He learned to swim by the end of the summer, and loves to swim after tennis balls. He is also fine in the snow... and I have taken him out all winter for our long waljks as cold as
-25 to -30, and as long as he is running he is fine. I was worried he would be cold, but he appears to be fine, not lifting legs. But again, he is always on the move.
He used to chew shoes and try to get stuff - when we had to leave him alone he had done a little damage... but I was determined not to get a kennel for him. Now, he is able to be left alone for 3 or 4 hours (rarely needed but sometimes its unavoidable) by himself and he just stays on his bed and is such a good boy!
Needless to say, we are best pals. My wife also loves him to death... he has found a great home, and I am so thankful every day that I have him. I still cant believe someone let him go to the spca, and didnt want to claim him.
Perhaps this year, if we make it down your way we can stop in and say hello.
Regards,
Andrew Coholic
I just wanted to let you know, Gibson is still doing very well! He is
a GREAT dog... and is such an integral part of my wife & I's family.
Gibson has turned from a very uneasy, easily frightened dog to now being able to live a normal life, ie, no longer scared of such things as the vacuum. He was so jumpy, and very unfamiliar with many daily things (opening a can of pop sent him scurrying before). He spends the day with me in my wood shop and isnt scared of the machinery! It took months of letting him get used to it on his own (all summer he didnt dare come in the shop, but I didnt want to force him... he eventually started coming inside on his own).

John and Kim,
Thought you might like a couple photos of Ditto from our recent trip to Kansas. This was his first time on wild birds and after a slow start, he really stated to figure them out.
I think you would agree that he has turned into quite a handsome boy.
Happy New Year

Subject: update on 2 of your Vizsla's.... from Nelson, BC.

Hello,
I know that you must be eteranlly busy but I thought that I would send in a quick update. No need to respond.
In July 2000 I bought a female puppy from you, (Onpoint's Tika). She is now 10, and still going strong. -- I sometimes wonder whether breeder's breed for longevity but she is hale, healthy, and hearty, and loves and lives for the field. I liked the breed so much that I purchased a year old male from Onpoint in ... 2005?. - Onpoint's Wininng Cheque ("Pro" and we have renamed him "Rojo"). He was sold to us as pet stock, and it is interesting to note the difference beteween he and Tika. He is a bit of a couch potatoe, and he runs hop footed (I can't think of the technical term), and so he has a hard time keeping up with Tika. Still, he is a wonderful dog, and we all spend a lot of time in the bush, as I am a Forester, and we live in rural BC.
No, they haven't garnered any grand titles, but yet, they are part of the progeny of OnPoint and so I think their health is of relevance. I think what they both exempify is health, spirit, and personalilty -- yes, and they
get to hunt in their own fashion too. (Do you have Pack rats in Ontario?). Actually, we have 3 species of grouse here, wild turkeys (you should see the dogs when they tree wild turkeys!), and pheasants and quail in the dryer areas. Anyway, please know that these two hooligans provide no end of pleasure for myself and my husband. We joke that if we get another 6 more we could have a "V-8" .. ok , bad. At some point in time, we will be looking for another Vizlsa, but I thought you might like to know that at least 2 of your dogs are having a great life, tucked away in the woods of south eastern British Columbia. We look forward to having many more adventures with them in the bush.
regards,
kristine sacenieks.

Subject: Griffen

Hi there from Victoria
Well Griffen has settled into West Coast life.
He is a much loved and troublesome teenager needing lots of attention and exercise. His passion for stalking around the back yard like a cat looking for birds is fascinating and his joyful exuberance is infectious.
Griffen (aka Onpoints third watch or Bozko ) has now been stripped of has manhood. We are wondering now what the process is for the ownership papers now to made out officially to us as his family. I have a vets receipt for his surgery or a note prepared by them as well.
He is a happy guy, loves his daily hour long jaunts and LOVES other dogs- so excited we can hardly keep him at bay with his passion fo play. I take him to work and my patients love him , he shares the bed with them and gets lots of attention.
We wonder sometimes if he has missed his calling with his natural pointing & bird hunting instincts that are very strong.
Thank you again
Cheers
Stefan Fletcher
