Although you may not be interested in competing with your dog, we would also like to emphasize that you still should buy the best possible Vizsla you can. All Vizsla puppies are cute but remember your Vizsla will be a part of your family's life for the next 12-15 years. Do not buy on impulse, you may have to wait for a suitable puppy. Consider an older Vizsla or a rescue, sometimes these dogs can be the very best friends you could have asked for.Vizslas and children; personally we tend not to recommend this breed for families with infants. Too often the Vizsla ends up not getting the attention it desires and the family finds that they simply don't have time to give it the required exercise. Being overly friendly, the Vizsla also has a tendency to jump up and this could potentially result in infants/toddlers being knocked over. For families with older children, the Vizsla can be a welcomed addition provided both children and dog are taught to respect one another. Children should always be supervised to prevent any misunderstandings.

At Onpoint, we place great emphasis on temperament. Vizslas generally are known for having easy going personalities however, some Vizslas are very shy and submissive, fearful of crowds, noises and new situations. This maybe the result of improper breeding or could also be the result of being raised in the wrong environment. We have Temperament Tested (TT) most of our dogs. A Temperament Test evaluates a dog's reaction to crowds, noises (gun shot), friendly and aggressive strangers, irregular footing, sudden objects - all of which a Vizsla should handle without any problems. We will never breed a dog that can not be trusted in normal situations around people!
